Have you watched this Show?
Monday, March 29, 2010
I just watched the latest episode, Wassup on HULU, it is the fourth episode of the fabulous new series Parenthood. Not only does it have my favorite Gilmore Girl as one of the lead characters but this show makes me cry each time I watch it. I know there is a whole lot of hoopla about reality tv shows but I really appreciate a television show that has really good writers and really great actors being paid to do a job. I can only stand so much train wreck tv.
If you haven't been watching you should.
If you start now you can catch all four episodes on HULU.
It is so good!!!

No More Snow Tires?
Thursday, March 25, 2010
Thursday we had an appointment with the Mazda Dealership to swap our snow tires for our summer tires. I'm sure it just me but I kind of laughed at Dan when he asked me if I can hear the difference between the two sets of tires. Does he mean over my Glee soundtrack pumping from the speakers or does he me over the kids tickling and poking each other with a range between laughter and tears of complaint? I consider myself lucky to hear an emergency vehichles blaring siren on a good day, but nope I can't tell the difference, sound wise, between winter and summer tires!
It took about an hour waiting for four tires to be located, balanced and aligned. Seth was kicking back, drinking his capri sun and watching word world on my ipod, then he found the toys and could have stayed even longer. I was happy to be sitting still, I am half way through the new Fablehaven book, Keys to the Demon Prison. This is the fifth and last book that Brandon Mull will write in this series. I absolutely love the characters Kendra and Seth. They are a brother and sister team to rival Charlie and Lola! Not to spoil the plot but this book was so funny, Newel and Doren the satyrs decide to help save the world for a flat screen tv, generator and 200 gallons of gas ~ of course. Because they were involved more, there was more humor. I really think, for a kid {P.S. this is a childrens novel}, that with all of the doom and gloom of the world is going to be taken over by all of the deamons and every other evil thing, a little humor adds that perfect touch! My favorite line is when they are all charging into battle and one of the goat men shouts out, "for Frito Lay!"After the dealership we stopped at two body shops to get quotes to fix my sad car. Although it looked like scratches that could be buffed out, the bumper is trashed and will have to be replaced. This picture is of Seth at the first place we stopped, he really like the fire place!
I was surprized at how much both of the estimates were. They ranged from $850 - $1,000. And here I didn't call the police because it didn't look like that much damage. The guy that hit me is being really nice and responsible about the whole situation, but I think from this point foward, if I were ever involved in another accident, I would call the police ~ no matter what!
I was watching the news and the weather was reporting more snow. Maybe I switched them too soon ~ sad!

Rear End
Wednesday, March 24, 2010
It didn't seem like that big of a deal when Seth and I were rear ended this morning. This nice gentleman got out of his Lexus, apologized profusely and asked me if he could repair my car. His brothers do body work on automobiles and would I please work with him on repairing the damage and not go through the insurance. I tried calling Dan to get his advice. It doesn't seem like this could be that much damage. I couldn't get through to Dan and I exchanged information with the man, taking his insurance info and license plate. As we drove off we passed another car accident were the passengers were being wheeled away on stretchers. I will be getting two estimates tomorrow from body shops and hopefully making arrangements with the man who couldn't see my rear end tonight! I am grateful that we are all safe and feel blessed that this will just be a slight nuisance…

Fun Weekend!
Monday, March 22, 2010
Erin celebrated Maggie's first birthday on Friday night. It was so fun to see this little girl in the spot light!
Then on Saturday, while some of the brother-in-laws went riding the rest of us got together to celebrate the first day of spring. We each brought a project and worked on it while we giggled. The kids enjoyed the fabulous weather and grandma's sand pile! Remember this Shower curtain I bought? And I picked up some bright red, orange, green and blue towells and rugs for the kids' bathroom at Ikea. This weekend I painted these to hand up on the walls.
Laura had me all excited because she said she would help me and I thought she would end up doing it all. I was so surprised when she just walked me through it. I actually did it all. I started by tracing the pattern onto the canvas after I painted it blue. I traced the spots and the eyes and mouth. Laura just laughed at me as I painted the red monster, delicately painting around the spots and such. Paint each layer and then trace some more. It was so easy, anyone could do it!

The funny things she says:
Thursday, March 18, 2010
This is the sheet of paper she was using while we were playing card games. I was keeping score but she was copying me. Grandpa Davis decided he wanted to join so I added him to the right side of my score sheet. So did Chloe, but there wasn't room for her to spell out grandpa so she just wrote Old!
During the same weekend Dan was teasing {aka lie to} her and She announced that she can always tell if daddies teasing because his eyes go big!
I need to do better at writing down what my kids say. The first time Chloe was sick and had diarrhea she shouted out to me that her bum threw up! Classic Chloe!!!
I was telling Dan about the "Old" Grandpa score card and she got all upset and embarrassed. I guess we have moved on to being a teenager and now we have to watch what we say around her! Read more...

More Green
Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Chloe came running in from school to tell me that while
she was at recess a Leprechaun came and delivered cookies
to her class! I was making her macaroni and cheese for
lunch and tried to tell her that a leprechaun must have dyed
her lunch green too. She said, "nu uh, mom. that was you!"
For dinner we had these green irish specialties:
Horse Shoe Pizza with green dough {sadly it was less appetizing green...}
Golden Potato Chips
Green Kool Aid with four leaf clovers made with ice cubes
& a Rainbow of fresh fruit

So Sad...
Here is Seth dressed in all of his green glory. He was up and dressed first this morning.
He thought he was going to school with Daddy... I found this storm trooper costume at target for $4
and it has been gathering dust on top of the fridge waiting for this moment:
All better! He has been watching the Clone Wars movies we borrowed from Kyle!!!

Taste a Rainbow
After mixing up two boxes of cake batter we divided it into six paper bowls. I added the food coloring paste and Chloe mixed them in. She would try to guess the color from the paste and kept surprising herself when she was wrong!
They made such beautiful colors:
We read the story of Noah and talked about rainbows and the promises Heavenly Father makes!
They didn't turn out exactly like the picture in the family fun magazine, but we had a good time making them. If you thought the cupcakes in the stone muffin pan were too full you would have been right. Those were the twelve that I made and they didn't turn out... which made Chloe even prouder!

Super Star
Monday, March 15, 2010
Chloe brought home her poster to fill out over the weekend. She was very particular about the glitter, the flowers and the stickers. She was very excited to share and she gets to be the Super Star of the Week in her class.
She has been super sweet to her brother lately, too. She wanted to make sure he was not scared at school. She held his hand throughout the halls. {I'm pretty sure he's never been scared...}

When I told Seth we were running errands today he was so, so excited!!!
He thought we were going to Erin's...
to be filled. We all need our blood presure checked
and each and every pair of sunglasses must be tried on!
Do you like Seth's hair? He wanted gel and spritz in
his hair today and he wanted it combed back like Kyle's.
{Does Kyle's hair look like this???}
