Not Good Bye

Friday, May 28, 2010

I have finished the last newsletter for the school.
I have caught up on my season finale's on Hulu.
I have lost track of coupons and freebie's.
I am planning on spending a lot of time this summer,
In the great out doors with my family

I am turning off my internet for the summer...

Skunked No More!

Yesterday Chloe had a full day of school.  They called it First Grade Boot Camp.  She got to visit with the 1st grade teachers and play on the big playground.  She got to have school lunch ~ she loved it!  Today the afternoon kindergartners got their boot camp so she had no school.  We all slept in and then headed up to Pine View!  Seth and I got sunburned but Daddy got this big guy:
He said it was the biggest he's caught at Pine View!!!

Flying

Dan had to go to Ace hardware for something and he finally found some triangle kites for the kids.  According to Dan, these are the only kind of kites that will fly well.  We headed out to Antelope Island last Saturday but sadly it was a little too windy...  Seth's string actually broke and Dan saved teh day by chasing the loose kite down!

This is all we caught ~ no fish...

We did get a visit at the cabin from the tooth fairy!
Dan's mom had left this 1,000 piece puzzle from the last time she was there.  She had finished all of the circular boarder and some of the inside.  It was like we were posessed to finish it!  Easily the hardest puzzle I've ever worked on!!!

I Dare You

We found this park behind the movie theater right by the little ceasars pizza...  Instant Picnic!!!
Chloe's class just had a special lesson about daring kids to do things.  That you don't have to do something you don't want to do, just because you were dared to do it...  She was dared to climb on top of this playground and was pleasantly surprised that she loved it!!!
We finally went to the dollar store today so that Chloe and Seth could spend the dollar and quarter Grandma Davis gave them when we went out to eat.  It has been burning a hole in their pockets.  I was able to control my controlling instincts and let them pick out what ever they wanted but they only had five minutes to choose!  Chloe picked out chapstick but wouldn't let me help her in any way and somehow grabbed lemon flavored lip balm ~ yuck!  Seth wouldn't hold still for me with his new sword but has had so much fun beating his dad with it!!!

My Mother's Day

Sunday, May 9, 2010

Chloe and Seth were so excited to celebrate Mother's Day this year.  She brought this paper home to me from school with a huge flower she made.  She asked me what I wanted for breakfast, the night before.  I woke up with her so excited that she was practically bursting!
Chloe and Seth brought up some of Dan's fabulous french toast with warmed cream cheese and strawberry jam/syrup.  After eating our breakfast in bed they brought in my first mothers day present:

My very own two burner griddle!
I said this is weird, a camp griddle, but I don't have a stove to cook with this; and they brought in Mother's Day gift number two:
I was so excited I said, lets go camping right now!!!  They were all for it until I reminded them that they were going to sing for me on Mother's Day during sacrament meeting...  Which they did  afabulous job!

We ended the day at my mom's house.  Notice the lovely new shade of paint behind us!!!

Willard Bay

This is what happens when you decide to take a nap because the fishing is so bad:

Chloe commandeered my camera and took these great shots.

This is Dan's wonder bait! The baby shad didn't do us any good this trip, but maybe next time...

She also took pictures of hers and Seth's tackle boxes and the fancy new rod holders ~ the real reason I was able to snooze!

We might not have caught any fish but we still had a great time!

Dan enjoyed his newest addition to the family:
This is our tax refund dollars hard at work.  Dan said he could have watched this for hours.
The fish that showed up on the screen were just taunting us, but it is still early in the season yet!!!

An Ode to Motherhood

"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.

I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.

I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children.

I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.

I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.

I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

Dan's Birthday

Saturday, May 1, 2010

I'm not really upset about it but we have fallen into a funk when it comes to celebrating our birthdays.  Dan has always gone out and bought himself what he wants months before the blessed occassion, be it his birthday, Christmas or Father's Day.  This year for his birthday was no different.  He ordered a fabulous new fish finder for his boat that can see so clearly and define the images so crisply that it can find human bodies at the bottom of lakes ~ this is a selling feature!  He wanted to go fishing for his special day, but the weather would not permit it...  His parents asked if they could take us all our for both of our birthdays to dinner and a show.  He wasn't very excited about the thought and decided on Nightmare on Elm Street and McDonalds.  Sadley, the scary show opened a day late and McDonalds was poo, poo'd!

We ended up watching How To Tame Your Dragon and eating at Chili's ~ the kids' favorite!  The movie was great with a scary beginning, the kids were both ready to leave the movie theater.  Chloe was seriously hiding in my armpit!  Once the dragons stopped attacking the villiage and flew off with the sheep the story started to progress and Seth just sat at the edge of his seat, glued to the screen.  Chloe kept her hands up near her eyes just incase she needed to cover them really quick!

So for Dan's birthday he suggested that I update the pictures in his office.
I love the picture above of Chloe holding Seth over four years ago...
