Good Bye Ogden Temple

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

We headed up to the Ogden Temple for our activity this afternoon.  We thought it would be a fun picture for each girl in front of the temple before the remodeling began.  We will be having a 'T' Party soon for our recognition night and we will be talking about temples, testimonies, talents, and other fabulous T words.  This is such a fun calling, I can't believe Chloe will get to start activity days in the fall!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Chloe's teacher loves St. Patrick's Day and now, Chloe loves it more than anything!  Her classmates made a potion for the teacher next door to them.  Ms. Nottingham drank the potion and it made her toe turn green!
Everyone made a leprechaun trap and were so shocked and surprised at the little leprechaun foot prints all over their tables.  Chloe was so excited she came home and made traps with Seth.  So much fun!!!

Crush Her Spirits?

This is Chloe, she is seven.  She wants to be able to do her own hair, she loved head bands.  She brushes her hair back and out of her face, adds a little spritz of hair spray and adds a color coordinating head band.  I think it looks great, for about two minutes and then she moves and we have the hair do pictured above.  Any suggestions for a free spirit who wants to be able to get herself read each day?  Or should I just crush her spirits and figure there's no harm in doing a nineteen year olds hair (Laura... Brittany...)???

First Time

Monday, March 14, 2011

Spring is almost here and we are a little antsy for it to finally arrive!

Do you remember when you were a child and you got something specifically for summer as a gift for Christmas?  That is what this last three months were for Dan!  He got fishing stuff for Christmas and has been so excited to get out on the water and try everything out.  He is bound and determined to conquer Willard Bay this summer and we just feel honored to be with him...
Yeah, he doesn't even have to hold his fishing pole!!!

Animals at the Zoo

Friday, March 4, 2011

Six classes of 1st Graders parading through the corral showing off their wares and knowledge.
It was also silly hat and sock day for Dr. Seuss and Literacy Week.
After the parade each class gathered their animals together for feeding time.
For every question they answered an animal cracker was shared.
Seth and I only asked questions until he wanted to eat the crackers himself...

Because we finished early we were able to leave school early and head to a park
to enjoy some of the fabulous sunshine that was beating down on us today:

And of course the sand pile {volleyball pits} were the highlight of the afternoon!

Sick Days

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Last week Chloe was sick with a low grade fever and a little cough. Without medicine, her fever just lingered and the only way to truely tell she was sick once the medicine kicked in was that she would take a nap {very unusual}! The first morning I tried to talk her into going. I had been up during the night with her but we got her hair done and she was dressed to go to school. I sat down with her and you could just see it in her eyes. I called our car pool and notified them we wouldn't be going to school. She climbed up into my lap and we both fell asleep for a couple of hours. It usually results in me getting myself sick, but one of my favorite things as a mother is their need to be snuggled and loved when they don't feel good. She wanted to be by my side non stop and we made the best of it by playing some new games. I fished out Rummikub from the basement, thinking it might be just right for practicing her numbers and really get her mind thinking.
Not only has she loved it but she need very little help seeing the places she can play her tiles. Seth has also loved trying to play but his attention doesn't last throughout the game. We also played a game we got for Christmas for the first time: Connect 4x4.

This game she is struggling with because I keep beating her. I try to warn her but she likes it anyways. This is very challenging because of the two sided playing board you have to pay special attention. Both of these games are recommended for 8 year olds and up. I have loved having a game player in the house. Dan will even play if the kids are playing! I couldn't be happier. In addition to both of these new games we have been playing uno and skipbo for months and she keeps beating me at skipbo!

The last thing we have been doing is her very first school report. She had to make two poaster boards into the front and back of a sign she will wear over her shoulders. She chose to report on elephants after I asked her to make it easy on me and choose and animal we had a costume for... Seth and I will get to go to her school and visit a "Zoo" full of 1st grader animals!
