Grandma Thomson stopped by to drop this off!
Soon after she left, Seth announced he wanted to go to bed!
He and Chloe spent the rest of the afternoon playing in it
and he is sleeping in it now!!!
Thanks Grandma!

Happy Birthday Seth!

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

I am so glad that we had so much fun celebrating his birthday up at the cabin because he has been sick today. I snapped this picture after we measured him on our growth ruler. He is growing so fast and measures in an inch taller than Chloe when she turned four! I am in the middle of his birthday letter and hope that both he and I will be sleeping through the night soon.

The Toothfairy is on it's Way!!!

Chloe walked in the door after school and came to tell me how her day was and her loose tooth was just sitting on her bottom lip when she froze. She was so shocked that there was no blood. I think we are ruined for future teeth. She isn't going to let anyone near her loose teeth if they will just fall out painlessly on their own...

Sadly this is how much of her big tooth you can already see!
Maybe now would be a good time to go and see this:

The Long Road Home

Sunday, January 24, 2010

These are some pictures of Logan Canyon. It was snowing on our
way up to Bear Lake and it was still snowing on our way home!

We pulled up behind this truck that had stopped just as this small avalanche cascaded down the mountain and over the road. We drove straight through the tree debris and snow and came across this medium sized drift of snow from a second avalanche! There was no driving through this thing, four wheel drive be damned!!! After the cars started backing up there was more and more people to help dig out the snow. Dan grabbed one of the lids to our storage bins and was shoveling away a path through the four feet of drifted snow. The police officer couldn't believe that we wouldn't have just waited around for the snow plow. It is so good to be home! This is the story of our long drive home on KSL!!!

Loose Ends

This is mine and Dan's bedroom, in the cabin. The kids have the twin bunk beds and we put together the new bed and mattress and installed the blinds. When I say we, of course I mean Dan... We love the big soft bed, but it is too high and I have to climb up into it and sleepily shimmy out of it.

This is the first time we have spent much time in a king size bed and last night it seemed small with both kids in it with us. Seth started coughing and couldn't stop. Then Chloe had a nightmare about a wolf that was going to eat her. I wonder if the wolf resembled a gremlin? It snowed and snowed the entire weekend and we were concerned about getting out of the canyon. Chloe was also concerned about her loose tooth. Our third addition to the tooth fairies collection will be her top left front tooth.

After I got the dental floss tied onto her tooth and she got it off the loose guy is just dangling a little lower than the others...

Not the Wisest of Decisions

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Granny Sue picked up the movie Gremlin's and she, Jared, Echo and Dan were all excited to watch it again. I have never seen it and remember thinking it was too scary for me to watch both then and now. It is rated PG but was rated in the 80's. We started watching it the first night but it stopped while everything was still cute and fuzzy. I was tired and chickened out, opting to go to bed instead of searching for the remote control to try to get the movie going, again. Saturday night we tried again but the kids wanted to watch too! As far as I could tell this was a lame 80's movie and I was afraid of it for no real reason. It all started so lame and gizmo was cute and fuzzy!

Then it got a little bit scary and nervous...
Once the 5 little mini gizmo's were fed after midnight and the pods started to bubble and grow both Chloe and Seth booked it for bed. They are still questioning us about everything!

R&R

Other than playing in the snow, Seth made lots of noise by playing with his remote control Momo Man on the hard wood floors. He had to do this underfoot, in the kitchen because it wouldn't go on the carpet.
Chloe was in heaven with all of the games I dug out of our basement and brought to the cabin. Besides the Domino's there was all sorts of card games, puzzles, janga, cooties, and dice. She had a blast making this maze!

Seth wanted her to make more so that he could knock them off again!

Bad McDonalds!!!

Thursday, January 21, 2010

We were at Wal-mart yesterday and we walked past the mini McDonald's on the way out and saw these toys. Chloe and Seth both received a gift card for Christmas and I have been holding off taking them until those blasted avatar toys were gone. I guess I waited too long. I promised the kids we would come to McDonald's today and I wanted to take them to one with a play land. This specific mickey D's was out off the promised toy and had been for some time...

If it weren't for the play land at McDonald's and for Aunt Laura this whole day would be lost. She decided to go through her old sunbeam boxes and her scrap booking surplus to share with Chloe and Seth. {p.s. Isn't her flower head band so adorable ~ she just started her own etsy account} She sent us home with four boxes of treasures. Seth also got a hand full of Meridian's candy!!! He did say he wanted to do some trick or treating but this chef hat was just one of the many surprises from Sweet Auntie Laura!!!

She's trying to kiss the cook!

Clean Up on Aisle 3

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I want to know what is wrong with my children. I take them to stores and they turn into raving lunatics. They have to run and chase and tackle each other. Today we went to the distribution center to pick up some new under's and they were laughing like hyena's and running about like a herd of antelope. I demanded that they stop or they would not get to pick out a toy from the adjacent D.I. and they froze for about 3 seconds. After searching through the toy aisle for more than thirty minutes they both found and decided on one toy. I found some children's medium size racing gloves for $1.50 and at the check out our total was only $4.25. As I was reaching for my money the chimpanzees in and on my cart managed to tip it over pinning Seth under the cart. The workers quickly raced over to assist us and right the cart. There I was struggling with my concern and anger. I gave them both hugs and checked for blood. Then I reminded them that this is AGAIN why we don't hang on or off of carts. The clerk just looked at me kind of askance and I felt inclined to say that it would be a little less dramatic if this was the first or even the second time they had done this.

Up To...

Tuesday, January 19, 2010

I know I have been missing in action in the blog world but I have been working on a very time consuming, mind numbing, make you go blind kind of project. I realized that it is all Dan's fault when I remembered a comment he made over new year's, at bear lake. We were playing cards and I had my iPod playing at full volume through the head phones so that everyone at the table could hear some tunes. Someone mentioned something about how much music I had and Dan remarked that they wouldn't believe what a freak I was because every song had its album name, cover, date released and artist. I just shrugged it off and smiled but this was not the truth.

Before I started having serious computer problems I had gone through and fixed many of the mix ups from the music I have obtained from Wendy, Krista, Erin and Brittany. Now that I have a new computer I wanted to add all of my music to it. I wanted to be able to sync my iPod to my computer and haven't been able to do it forever!

So for the past week I have been going through every song I could lay my hands on. There were so many duplicates! I am more familiar with iTunes and finally know where my music is stored on my computer and the changes I make in iTunes are now made in the file folders the music file is stored in. Every song has the correct Artist, Album name, Release Date, Artwork, and Genre. I have wheedled the list down to 22.3 GB, or 6,650 Files, or 1,430 Folders. I saved it all on my external hard drive and then went through and clean that up too!

I finished doing this last night around 10 pm and wasn't a bit tired. I have been staying up from anywhere between 3 and 4 in the morning working on this obsessive project. So I ran some hot bath water and grabbed my February issue of Martha Stewart Living. I laid there soaking in the water reading from cover to cover. There were a lot of good valentines ideas and I even saw a recipe I will be trying {Croque-Monsieur} but the best this was the article: Family History in the Making. This artist has allowed some of her items to be available to download and I thought they were so cute.

She had so many things displayed in the most adorable way. Check it out at Martha Stewart magazine, Family History in the Making. I love a shadow box and think I could do some really cute things with the pictures and mementos I have of Dayna. I would also love to do something with some of my favorite baby items I saved for Chloe and Seth...
So I am back. Lots has gone on over the past week and I will try to post about it but I didn't take a single picture since we had been sick. Everyone is better and school starts up again tomorrow so with any luck we will get back to normal!

Is it still Christmas?

Saturday, January 9, 2010

We headed out late this morning and made our way across the valley to Cabella's. We stopped first at Chili's to use a gift card we received. Seth insisted on wearing the tie that Grandpa Thomson gave him for Christmas. It looked really cute and I think he might be starting a new trend... When we got to Cabella's Dan found his dream down rigger and we exchanged the one I got him for a Scotty. Chloe thought it was really funny that his down rigger and his middle name are the same. Doesn't this picture look like a happy little boy who got what he asked Santa for?

Merry Christmas!!!

the Lego Saga

Thursday, January 7, 2010

I think I mentioned that Santa Claus brought this game to Dan. He has been hiding the wii disc while he is at work since one of the kids erased his progress after the long Christmas weekend. They are so interested in all of the characters and have many, many questions. I thought they might enjoy the movies and have begun their obsession of everything star wars. We started with the first episode when Anakin is a little boy and they loved it. Chloe thought all of the aliens were so weird and kept calling them astronauts. It was confusing when Anakin grew to a young jedi in training but Queen Amadala remained the same... We are missing the third story and so they are missing the part where Anakin kills all of the children training to be jedi's. They love the light sabers and the laser guns. When Dan explained that Anakin turned into Darth Vader, I thought they were going to want to stop watching the movies. But they love R2-D2 and Princess Leia {in the wii game she can kill the enemies by slapping them!} and Seth calls C3PO, C-PeePee-O.

Just this morning, Chloe woke me up around 8:40. We had another rough night and I forgot to set my alarm. Her carpool was knocking at the door and she was still in her pj's. I had her send them on to school and she came back upstairs crying. I told her I would take her to school and not to worry. She tried explaining that she was just upset because she had just watched the Return of the Jedi again this morning and she thought that when Darth Vader saved his son and turned against the dark side and killed the emperor, it was just like when Jesus died for us. Yeah we might need to bump up the F.H.E. to two times a week...

Seth also informed me that he would like a Darth Vader cake for his upcoming birthday. I had bought some toy story toys at Target but I realized we bought some very similar toys at the DI that he doesn't absolutely love to play with. I am planning on returning them and we will be looking for some star wars figurines for this years theme! Because his doctor called this morning, after our appointment yesterday, and told me that his strep culture came back positive, I promised this sick little monster a star wars cake ~ I am such a push over!!!

I have been trying to read the Chronicles of Narnia series for months. I have never finished reading the entire group of books ~ even while in school. I laugh about what Chloe said but it amazes me how many stories and movies out there have a plot similar to the bible. When Aslan came back to life due to the old magic, I seriously wondered if the author, C.S. Lewis, was LDS. I remember thinking that the movie Willow came strait from the story of the Moses.

Dan and I did get a call last night from the bishopric. He will be serving on the Cub Scout committee and I will be serving in the primary as the 10-11 year olds' Achievement Days Leader. Hopefully these callings are low key enough so that when Chloe and Seth (now a sunbeam) answer questions in primary and their response has something to do with Star Wars, we wont be called into the bishops office or released.

So now when Dan plays the wii the kids have to use their light sabers from Disney World behind him. He was excited that I pulled them out of a box in the basement at first, but now ~ not so much. But I am looking for cake ideas that are simple enough that I might be able to wow Seth with a cake this year. Sadly, I think I peaked too soon and to think he is only going to be four...

Ipecac is on my mind!

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

We are back from the doctor's office and Seth has croup. highly contagious croup. highly contagious, viral/no cure, wait it out, croup. He was a sport and wore his mask in the office as well as to the pharmacy to fill his prescription for steroids to lesson the inflammation of his throat. Thankfully his lungs sound fine and his ears look great.

We were given this nifty little blue bag to catch Seth's throw up in. {I wish I had enough nerve to steal a few extra out of the cupboard for road trips.} Plus as soon as we got home he threw up in my bed!!!

So I keep thinking about Anne of Green Gables and when she saved
Diana Barry's little sister by forcing ipecac down her throat.
I think it might have been taken off the shelf, any suggestions?
The doctor recommended a humidifier & a spoonful of honey...
{not to be confused with a spoonful of sugar!!!}

Cabin Extras

Monday, January 4, 2010

When we first arrived one of the first things we noticed was the beautiful family portrait on the mantel of the fire place. Chloe was so tickled that Grandpa framed her artwork!

She was also excited that Grandma was passing out nickels for every bug that was found, squished and flushed away!!! There are couches on the way as well as a pool table with ping pong on top of it. I can't wait until we go back. We left early because after our ward split I needed to see who was called for each of the presidencies. Sadly Dan and I both fell asleep Saturday around 6 pm with a scratchy throat. I haven't been able to sleep because every time I lay down, I start to cough. I have a stuffy head and a soar throat... We missed church and I didn't help out in Chloe's class. I hate being sick and hope that this was just because I was out in the cold...

Happy New Years!!!

Friday, January 1, 2010

Dan guessed it. His parents bought a cabin!!! It is the most beautiful and amazing cabin ever!!! They gave all of the kids a navigational system for Christmas and then gave us the coordinates to a "rented cabin" for a new years eve weekend. This is where we arrived! They have a bedroom for each of their kids with a loft area just for Josh. When we arrived Sue was putting her new rustic cabin dishes in the cabinets. They told us to look around and find our room ~ it had an ornament with Santa Claus riding a morotcycle in it! In the family room in the basement were boxes and boxes that had the makings for 5 sets of bunkbeds, with trundles and fifteen twin mattresses. Sue has been shopping and had all of the bedding for the beds in the cabin and rustic theme. Each room has its own set of color coordinated towls. Our bedroom is going to be the fishing room! I can't wait to decorate it... Chloe was so excited because she has always wanted to sleep on a bunk bed and she did really well ~ as far as I know no one fell out! Since Dan and I arrived first {SHOCKING, I KNOW} he set out to put his bunk bed together. He did it wrong and had to fix the dang beds three times, his brothers loved this!!!

We had a great time sledding up and down the lot and then Grandpa brought out the Rhino's and took those that wanted too all over the neighborhood. We had great food, played card games and did puzzles. We preteneded that it was midnight at about 8:30 on new years eve and blew horns and wore party hats. Most of the kids couldn't last much later than that and Seth even slept through the excitement.

Here is a video I took of Dan and Seth taking Grandpa out:
There were so many great pictures of us sledding that I added them all. There might be some more if I can get some pictures from Echo.
