Swimming Lessons

Monday, February 16, 2015

This will be the first time Chloe and Seth have taken swimming lessons in different classes.  Because I was worried that they might cancel our classes (if the minimum # of students wasn't met) we invited some friends who are also off track to come with us.  Seth is in Wave 4 and Chloe in Wave 5.  Without any extra fat on his body, Seth had a hard time swimming the length of the pool.  Hopefully he will be able to pass this time!
Goggles on & Ready to GO!!!

So Proud

Friday, February 13, 2015

It has been over a year now but we are finally to the point that she isn't screaming as loud as she can, "TAKE IT OUT, TAKE IT OUT".  Today we went to Chloe's pediatrician for her monthly penicillin shot.  Dan is out of town snowmobiling with his dad so she asked her Grandma Davis to come help hold her down...  Grandma met us in Bountiful and was ready to through around some muscle but Chloe surprised herself and everyone else in the office by holding still, with just my help.  I hold her hand and put my arms around her, kind of hugging her while she lays on her stomach to receive the thick and slow milky, white mold.  Grandma took us out to dinner for burgers at The Habit and then to Dunkin' Doughnuts for dessert.  They are so spoiled.  Then I took Seth to Barnes and Noble for some Minecraft books, both instructional and a chapeter book to read!  They are getting so big, I am so proud to be their mother!!!

Maturation Program

Thursday, February 12, 2015

Have I mentioned how much I love this girl, lately?  She is one of my best friends and as the only other living  girl on Team Davis, she's got my back!!!  We have had long discussions about marriage, sex and babies.  So far she is under the impression that when you have sex you get pregnant.  She asked, "So you have had to have sex three times?"  Yes, I gravely answered...  She also worries about how bad it is going to hurt to have the babies.  We went to the 5th grade maturation program at her school with all of the other boys and girls in her grade.  They had the first have of the meeting combined to talk about the changes that are going on in their heads; the stresses, the highs and lows, the fluctuation of emotions and how to deal with everything from loosing a pet or a grandparent, divorce, and friend drama.  After breaking into boy/girl groups I am proud to say that she was very informed and quite relieved to have the entire thing over with.

Discovery Gateway Now and Then

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Seth's class went on a field trip today to the Centerville Megaplex and we watched 'Under the Sea' in 3D, it was awesome.  Then we went to the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake and ate our sack lunches at the old train depot.  Then we went to Discovery Gateway.  For this trip we skipped over the ball pit:
even skipped the xylophone:
Instead he went strait for the life size helicopter:

The construction zone was revisited:

But I'm not sure the workers would have considered this the correct way to play:
They took turns trying to lift each other with the crane:

The Mail Box is a must:
He still fits, kind of...
Splashing:

Climbing:
Riding this old horse:

and playing in the market:
After watching him and all of his class mates onto the bus,
My friend Krystal and I did a little shopping,
first at Charming Charlies and then Trader Joe's!!!

Fire Station Adventure

Monday, February 9, 2015

Yesterday at church two assistant den leaders were called and sustained!  I am so excited to be able to work with Lisa Thayne and Rachel George.  Lisa's son Tyler is in our den and Rachel's husband is a Weblos leader.  With the help from our Primary Presidency Counselor, Neeley Reed, we got everyone to the firehouse where Treir Allen works.  He led the boys on a tour starting with the office of the fire cheif, the conference rooms, the bedrooms, the kitchen and tv room.

Then locker room and the GARAGE!!!
What is it with boys and heavy machinery?
Treir tried to tell them that the front of the truck is called the rear and the back of the truck is called the front.  He showed them all of the valves and attachments:
He showed them the Jaws of Life.  The top tool acts like scissors and the bottom one is like a spreader.  I didn't know they were gas powered.
He kept telling the boys, "put your hands down, I haven't asked any questions!"  He was so funny, he kept trying to trick the boys but only succeeded in fooling the leaders...
While showing us how many axes are on the truck, one of the boys fixated on the cooler and yes, it is filled full of ice with drinks for tired and thirsty fire fighters!
It was awesome, I asked Treir if we could provide some kind of service.  Dan suggested the boys could wash the fire trucks!!!  All through the tour, he joked about 1st cleaning the toilets, then 2nd making the beds!
When he told them that they needed to stand back so the firemen could back all of the trucks out so that the boys could mop the floors, none of them believed him!!!

It was awesome!!!  And then I had them pretend they were sliding down the fire pole:

Shine

The fine line between dark and light was too beautiful not to stop and snap this photo.
No matter the weather; rain, sleet or snow, it is amazing to see the sun break through the clouds and shine.  My nephew, Zack posted a poem and artwork and today made me think of it:
