Fire Station Adventure

Monday, February 9, 2015

Yesterday at church two assistant den leaders were called and sustained!  I am so excited to be able to work with Lisa Thayne and Rachel George.  Lisa's son Tyler is in our den and Rachel's husband is a Weblos leader.  With the help from our Primary Presidency Counselor, Neeley Reed, we got everyone to the firehouse where Treir Allen works.  He led the boys on a tour starting with the office of the fire cheif, the conference rooms, the bedrooms, the kitchen and tv room.

Then locker room and the GARAGE!!!
What is it with boys and heavy machinery?
Treir tried to tell them that the front of the truck is called the rear and the back of the truck is called the front.  He showed them all of the valves and attachments:
He showed them the Jaws of Life.  The top tool acts like scissors and the bottom one is like a spreader.  I didn't know they were gas powered.
He kept telling the boys, "put your hands down, I haven't asked any questions!"  He was so funny, he kept trying to trick the boys but only succeeded in fooling the leaders...
While showing us how many axes are on the truck, one of the boys fixated on the cooler and yes, it is filled full of ice with drinks for tired and thirsty fire fighters!
It was awesome, I asked Treir if we could provide some kind of service.  Dan suggested the boys could wash the fire trucks!!!  All through the tour, he joked about 1st cleaning the toilets, then 2nd making the beds!
When he told them that they needed to stand back so the firemen could back all of the trucks out so that the boys could mop the floors, none of them believed him!!!

It was awesome!!!  And then I had them pretend they were sliding down the fire pole:

Shine

The fine line between dark and light was too beautiful not to stop and snap this photo.
No matter the weather; rain, sleet or snow, it is amazing to see the sun break through the clouds and shine.  My nephew, Zack posted a poem and artwork and today made me think of it:

Birthday Party at Boondock's

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

I have never thrown this boy a birthday party for him and his friends.  I've always been afraid of a gang of boys (anything more than 2 boys).  Cub Scouts has changed me and guilt has pressured me into giving in.  The fact that I didn't have to entertain any of these wiggly, noisy, dirty boys was the cincher!  We met at Boondock's in Kaysville and they had pizza and soda, opened presents, crowned the birthday boy and covered him in tickets.  Seth's tallest friend Tyler was tall enough to drive the big go-karts and he took all of the boys in turn for rides around the race track.  Boondock's height requirements for the kiddie go-karts where why we chose it in the first place!!!  They bowled, played laser tag, played endless games and spent tortuously slow minutes picking out the cheap prizes with their winning tickets!

This Little Man is 9

Monday, January 26, 2015

Seth is my favorite son!  He always tries to be a gentleman and will probably always be a moma's boy.  He is a LEGO building, dirt bike riding, noise with dirt on it!  He crashes into trees while skiing.  He narrates his day even if no one is around to listen.  He still gives me hugs and kisses and allows me to count all of his freckles!  He likes to play out in the cold, getting frostbite, and gets upset when I make him come in and warm up.  He loves to laugh and play UNO Attack.  He likes to watch old episodes of Gilligan's Island.  He would eat Ramen Noodles as often as possible and makes it all on his own.  He has loved being a Wolf Cub Scout.  His favorite song is Come With Me Now by Kongos.  His wacky teeth are almost all grown in.  When given the opportunity to choose any restaurant for his birthday, he would choose McDonald's every time!  Seth is by far, my favorite son!!!

Merry Christmas

Thursday, December 25, 2014

After a fabulous party with Dan's family last night and Seth begging to be allowed to go to bed while his cousins were still here, we woke up this morning (they patiently waited for me to rise) at 4:30 AM!
Her LAVA LAMP came with a solid chunk of goo and took 4-6 hours to warm up.
Seth asked for a church coat and orange tie that was real; not a clip on or zipper tie.
He was surprised to get an air soft gun set with protective masks!!!
Dan had charged the paddles in preparation of hours of play time with the
new MX vs. ATV SUPERCROSS game!!!
Blue is her new favorite color!
 Seth's stuff

 Chloe's Presents
I found these downloadables on Pinterest and loved how they turned out.

The War
Seth got his awesome orange jacket from Grandpa and Grandma Davis Christmas Eve.  He slept in it and still hasn't taken it off!

With oven baked french toast for breakfast and cinnamon syrup to top off a special Christmas Breakfast, we are all ready to go back to bed.  But even as I'm typing this the snow is falling in huge fluffy flakes.  Both Chloe and Seth are outside trying to build a snowman, maybe they'll have a better chance this afternoon.  Seth has been discouraged with all weathermen and wouldn't believe the news reports but we are all so glad for a White Christmas!!!
