Davis Family Party

We got together and had a talent show after dinner.  Slayder told us about his many pets. Drake showed off his sick six pack and then did a belly dance.  Harlie demonstrated her hula hooping skills and followed up with jumping rope!  Mahorni, Moroni and Bridger all sang their favorite primary song "Follow the Prophet".  Chloe sang the song she performed for school, "no L" and Seth did somersaults over pretend fire, WOW!  Gwen and Tai sang Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and then had everybody join in with them, thanks to Grandma and her antlers!!!  I took video footage of all of this but it was too dark and you can't actually see anything. Sad...
Don't leave Luke out of the silliness!
Josh and Grandpa lead us in a new game called Ho Ho Ho, where Josh would draw the number out of a hat and the prizes were grocery items that he thought were so funny, like soup or apples!!!
The best was when he would announce the next prize as a poisonous apple, whaahaa ahhaa haaa ha!
Jenn and Nate got Grandma this amazing checkers set with pictures of all of us as the pieces:
These sweet beauties with their matching Christmas Jammies:
Mom found Jared's cabbage patch doll that Grandma Rita made for him years ago:
Jared is transitioning into a new type of music, can you guess what he is shaking his groove to now a days?
This was what the kids got Dad for Christmas this year ~ he is so hard to shop for...
The food was great, desserts were fabulous {i still need the recipes} and fun was had by all.  We focused more on the kids this year and finally have enough kids to be able to draw names with Jenn and Nate's family were they aren't picking their own brothers or sister...  Grandpa Bry took a moment to talk about Joseph Smith and Jesus with all of us and it was so wonderful to have my children raise their hands and the answer wasn't Santa or presents but about the baby Jesus!

The Hogwarts Express

Dan came home from work with a surprise from Grandma Davis.  She bought this Harry Potter train set a while back, when Josh wasn't afraid of the movies ~ now their too scary and dark for him.

Seth and Chloe were glad to receive another train.  If any of you know Dan's Dad ~ he LoVeS trains!!!  They gave us a train set to go around our tree a couple of years ago.  The kids loved to play with it and/but lossed the battery cover.  It had been a fun push toy ever since.  This train was smaller in size but there was more track, so Dan decided to put it on the table for the season.  Seth could watch it go around and around for hours on end!

Sugar Rush

I appreciate Kate so much for watching Seth while I go to my mom's each month.  Chloe has been very jealous of how much time he got to spend with Tai and Gwen and it just happened that when we were leaving the Thomson Christmas Party, Seth dropped his candy house...
I promised we would make him a new house and I hoped to repay Kate for her generosity
Chloe's House:
 Seth's House:
 Tai's House:
 Gwen's House:
Luke just wanted more marshmallows, Thanks Seth...
I'd been dying to make my own house:
This has been a tradition from when I was growing up.  My Grandma Thomson would bake gingerbread cakes and we would lather them with icing and pack on as much candy as possible.  For those that took their time and actually decorated, she would supply little plastic trees, glass mirrors for ponds, and miniature woodland animals to be added to the decor.  Some day, I'll get there!!!

Bear Lake Snow

Saturday, December 11, 2010

We pulled up to the cabin's driveway last night.  The road into the neighborhood had been plowed but that ment that there was 3-4 feet of plowed snow preventing us from eating our hot pizza.  My brother Tommy had just called and while Dan was ckipping away at the frozen pile, he continued to give me the grim report on our Dad's health.  Dan was prepared to shovel the drive way leading up to the garage but I begged him to drive on the snow, it was too dark, our dinner was getting cold, and I had been blubbering...

We all went to bed early but woke up to Dan shoveling snow off the deck like a mad man!
Seth was so excited, here he is below the deck trying to catch what Dan's hoisting off...
The driveway we barely made it up...
But grandma's second fridge might have helped us muscle our way up!
The garage is finished and Dan tried to get the snow blower started...  No Luck...
The covered walkway was heaven sent and protected from the snow!
Dan was adamant about clearing the deck
The kids didn't mind the clouds overhead and Dan even spotted a boat out on the water.
Every time he stopped he would take something off; first his hat, then his coat and lastly his gloves.
He actually broke our snow shovel in the process!
Chloe benefitted from all of the huge snow chuncks Dan threw down to her.

She was very excited that Grandpa wanted to sleep in her igloo!

Nativities

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

I love nativities and advent calendars.  I am going to make a replica of my moms felt advent nativity.  It will have to be for next year.  I did manage to finaly gather enough christmas books to count down the 25 days until christmas.  Each day the kids will get to unwrap something and we will read that story each day.  So far we have enjoyed an I Spy Christmas book, Flat Stanleys Christmas Adventure, the Snowman Pop Up Book, Junie B Jones Jingle Bells Batman Smells and May Too, You Are Special and Merry Christmas Curious George.  The kids have been very good taking turns opening the book on their day.  They also get to open their chocolate advent calendar ~ and that they don't have to share!
